Product Photo Backgrounds: What Marketplaces Actually Require

Daraz, Amazon and Shopify each have their own image rules. Here is what they require, and how to batch a catalogue to match.

Listing rejections are usually about the image, not the product. Each marketplace publishes photo standards, and the main image rule is almost always the same: a pure white background with the product filling most of the frame.

The common requirements

  • Main image background: pure white (RGB 255,255,255) on Amazon and most Daraz categories.
  • Frame fill: the product should occupy roughly 85% of the frame.
  • Resolution: 1000px on the longest side is the usual minimum for zoom to activate.
  • No extras: no borders, no logos, no promotional text on the main image.

Cut out first, then add white

Photographing on a white sheet rarely gives you true white. It gives you light grey with shadows. Removing the background and then placing the subject on a true white layer is more reliable than blowing out the exposure in-camera.

Batching a catalogue

For more than a handful of products, process in batches and keep a transparent PNG master of each item. When a marketplace changes its rules, or you need the product on a brand colour for an ad, you re-export from the master instead of re-shooting. Our bulk upload handles up to 100 images per batch.
